Legal Authority:

Established by Joint Powers Agreement 077-98 between the City of Taft and the County of Kern on February 10, 1998.

Membership Qualifications:

Five (5) members: • two (2) members appointed by the Mayor of the City of Taft • two (2) members appointed by the County Supervisor in whose district the Authority is located (S.D. 2) • one (1) public member appointed by majority vote of the appointed members of the board All members of the Board shall be registered voters residing within the boundaries of the Authority (defined in Exhibit A of Agreement 077-98).

Term:

Appointed members shall serve at the pleasure of the appointing official. The Public Member shall serve a four-year term from the date of the appointment.

Duties:

The Authority shall have the common power of the parties hereto to establish and administer an economic growth and development program.

Meeting Place and Time:

Greater Taft Economic Development Resolution 4-2012 established Regular meetings shall be held, without notice, on the fourth Thursday of each January, April, July and October. The meeting shall commence at 4:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Taft located at 209 East Kern Street, Taft, California, or at such other place as the Authority may from time to time prescribe.
