Legal Authority:

Established by Board of Supervisors Resolution of December 8, 1938, pursuant to Chapter 6, Para. 8950 California Health and Safety Code, as the Delano Cemetery District. Name changed to North Kern Cemetery District by Board of Supervisors Resolution 72-169. Increase in membership by Board of Supervisors Resolution 86-652.

Membership Qualifications:

Five (5) trustees appointed by the Board of Supervisors from electors residing within the North Kern Cemetery District.

Term:

Four-year staggered term and until appointment and qualifications of successors.

Duties:

It shall be the responsibility of the District to govern and manage the affairs of the District, guided by laws and regulations as set forth by the California Health and Safety Code and by regulations that are promulgated by the Board of Supervisors.

Meeting Place and Time:

North Kern Cemetery Office 627 Austin Street Delano, CA Second Thursday of each month at 4:15 P.M.

Compensation:

Trustees shall receive $100 per meeting; necessary expenses for actual travel in connection with meetings or business of the board of trustees shall be allowed and paid.

Ethics Training:

Pursuant to State law, on or after January 1, 2006, any person newly appointed shall successfully complete a course in ethics training approved by the Fair Political Practices Commission and Attorney General. Each member is required to complete this training every two years.
