Established by Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 69-387 of June 9, 1969 pursuant to Sections 2024 and 2023 of the California Health and Safety Code.
Five (5) members appointed by the Board of Supervisors from electors residing within the South Fork Mosquito Abatement District.
Two (2) or four (4) years, at the discretion of the appointing authority.
The primary objective shall be the progressive elimination of mosquito breeding places, to be accomplished by • providing an educational service on control measures • performing services of temporary relief control • establishing projects of source reduction • using abatement procedure methods when necessary • general policy of cooperation

Members shall serve without compensation.
Pursuant to State law, on or after January 1, 2006, any person newly appointed shall successfully complete a course in ethics training approved by the Fair Political Practices Commission and Attorney General. Each member is required to complete this training every two years.
