MOTION TO CONSIDER NON-AGENDA ITEM: MADE FINDING THAT NEED TO TAKE ACTION ON NON-AGENDA MATTER OCCURRED AFTER AGENDA WAS POSTED BECAUSE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1998, A PATIENT WAS ADMITTED UNDER A 5150 PSYCHIATRIC HOLD. HE HAD $550.00 ON HIS PERSON THAT WAS TAKEN BY A STAFF NURSE TO ADMITTING FOR DEPOSIT INTO THE HOSPITAL SAFE. THE MONEY WAS INADVERTENTLY DEPOSITED INTO THE GENERAL FUND. THE NEXT DAY THE PATIENT WAS GIVEN CLEARANCE TO BE RELEASED IN THE EVENING. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE MONEY WAS DEPOSITED AND NOT PLACED IN THE SAFE. BECAUSE IT WAS LATE IN THE DAY AND A WEEKEND, THERE WAS NO PETTY CASH FUND AVAILABLE TO RETURN FUNDS TO THE PATIENT. THE PATIENT WAS GIVEN OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING. ALSO, TWO KMC EMPLOYEES WITHDREW PERSONAL FUNDS TO ALLOW THE PATIENT TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL. THE PATIENT SIGNED FOR THE RETURN OF HIS MONEY.
